This is becoming a disturbing trend… Just the one run again this week. Did get in 3 weight training sessions though. Luckily I am on vacation now, so I should be able to get some good runs in.
Even with fewer expected runs I am seeing progress.
Not a great week, once again just got one run in. Pretty cold today so I think that affected my pace quite a bit. A little over 4 months to go until the marathon, so far I feel like I am on target.
Not a bad run today, a little faster than I have been the last few weeks. First 3 miles felt quite hard though, might have been the crazy headwind I was running into.
After a month or so of semi regular training I am for sure seeing improvements. Pace is a little faster, recovery is easier and I’m taking fewer breaks in each run.
I think it’s time to start adding some more hill and speed work into the routine.
After much debate I decided to purchase this. It arrived yesterday and I had my first dusk/night run in it.
The vest is very comfortable, once I had it adjusted correctly I hardly noticed it. The strap was just above my heart rate monitor so it felt a little weird at first, but after some more adjusting it was perfect. It did not interfere with my running motion at all.
I wondered about just how reflective and visible the vest was, it more than met my expectations. Vehicles sure did seem to give me more room and actually seemed to notice me in the crosswalks. I also had one other runner ask me where I got the vest.
I’ll update this if any issue come up and if there are any durability issues, but for now I am more than happy and I can recommend this without reservation.
Another slow day today, just working on building up my endurance before I get started with the speed work.
I also ordered Amphipod Xinglet Flash LED Vest and last night was my first run with it. I am very impressed, the cars on the roads sure did seem to give me more room and actually noticed me in the crosswalks.
Once again, Nike please get the Nike+ app updated on android. Auto pause I need you!

Beautiful. Just beautiful
In The Wall Street Journal, Chad Stafko writes that running a marathon is hard enough without also patting yourself on the back every step of the way.
Well that was a first… Midway through my run, after reaching a local park, I was rammed by a deer. Saw a fawn off to the right and said to myself keep an eye out for the mom when bam it came out from the brush and rammed me in the back. Didn’t hurt but I got a heck of a fright. After that it calmly walked off with it’s baby. Sure did break the monotony!
